What I’m doing and Why I’m writing a blog about it…

July 7, 2008

I, Matthew Nelson, am headed to Russia to teach English as part of the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship program. I will be teaching for the academic year at the Siberian Academy for Government Service (SibAGS) which is located in Novosibirsk. Novosibirsk is the largest city in Siberia at 1.5 million people and is considered its administrative and cultural capital. Yes, it will be very, very cold. This blog is basically meant to help me keep in contact with those who actually care enough about what I’m doing to check this blog. This does not mean I will stop writing personal emails. I just hope to provide a bit more detail about my experiences for more people. In reality, I know that my mother will probably be the only one who reads this, but that’s good enough for me. I don’t claim to be a great writer, Especially when it comes to writing about myself! I am really bad at journaling, so don’t expect more than little unpoetic blurbs about my life. I expect the most interesting element of my blog will be the multimedia that I hope to share on this page. I hope that my time in Siberia is full of exciting experiences and interesting insights that I can share with you through the worldwideweb.
